This is the familiar story brought to life in the movies by Julie Andrews. Emily Yantes plays the ever loving Maria Rainer a novice nun who travels to the home of Capt. Von Trapp played by Cody Bottoms. She takes on the role of governess to his seven children after the death of their mother. The story takes place in Austria as the German invasion during World War II is taking place.
The play will be directed by Mike Snyder music tacher and community volunteer Marsha Hill, who has directed many shows with the Kankakee Valley Theatre. The choregraphor is Manteno graduate Michael Talamonti and art direction is by MHS art teacher Mr. Stenhouse. Mr. Stenhouse used art club students in helping to assist in the painting of the set pieces. Several of the set pieces were created by shop students under the direction of Mr. Thompson.
