The Interact Club at Manteno High School is a student club which meets regularly during the months of the school year and they organize and participate in different community service activities. The club is run by teacher Jenny O’Reilly and a group of elected officer students. The officers this year include President Christian Villanueva, Vice President Ashlee Wesselhoff, Secretary Madi O’Dell, and Treasurer Patrick Mallaney.

A few recent events that have passed include a book drive they held for collecting children’s books for a local children’s hospital for the holiday season, volunteering at the nearby Jingle Bell run 5k, and the exciting Santa’s Coming To Town held on Main Street in Manteno for the community. Two current events that kids are actively involved in now includes the food drive competition for all grade levels and staff at the high school and babysitting for teen moms. A future event they have planned for after winter break is the blood drive. The event is held inside the high school during the school day and students can volunteer to give blood to the organization or just help out throughout the day if they choose. Interact has kept very busy with all the past events and with upcoming ones as well, continuing to do a great job working hard for our community.
