Math Team Accomplishments

The high school Math Team is an after school club for students to practice and further work on their math skills with teacher Dan Sobodas. The Math Team is made up of a variety of all four grade levels who have competed in three different competitions this year. They were successful in all of their competitions which included the Beecher Competition on November 15th, the Reed Custer Competition on January 24th, and the Interstate-8 Competition on January 31st.

Highlights from this school year’s competitions include:


  • 3rd overall as a team (out of 7 teams)

  • 2nd Place in the Trigonometry Presentation by Devin Hernandez and Justin Long

  • 1st Place in the Equations Presentation by Lucas Beasley and Michael St. Aubin

  • 3rd place in Matrix Algebra

  • 1st place in Linear Functions

  • 3rd place in Solving Equations

  • 2nd place in Graphs

  • 1st place in Calculators


Reed Custer

  • 2nd Place in Freshman/Sophomore Team Competition

  • 1 perfect score - Paul Burkhalter in Lines

  • Devin Hernandez and Justin Long scored a 44/50 in their presentation on Trig Equations and just missed out on 3rd place


Interstate 8

  • 4th Place – Algebra II Quadratics

  • 3rd Place Level  I Comprehensive

  • 2nd Place Level II Comprehensive

And 22 perfect test scores: Andrew St. Aubin (2), Josh Gesky (2), Eddie Horath (2), Alex Vandergriff (2), Vinith Kuruppu (2), Paul Burkhalter(3), Devin Hernandez, Conner Quigley, Justin Long, Cameron Kruger, Madie Monk, Hasmik Nazarians (2), Avery Taylor, Kyle Hacek
