Bio

I am a former student from Manteno High School. I graduated in 1994 and during my time at MHS I played volleyball, basketball, and softball for four years. I was injured my freshman year of basketball with a completely torn ACL. I held off on surgery so I did not miss out on too much of the upcoming seasons. I worked in rehab really hard to get back. I also was part of the FFA organization and served as officer.

After high school graduation I attend Kankakee Community College for 2 years. I played softball my second year after having surgery on my knee to reconstruct my ACL. After 2 years at KCC I transferred to Lewis University and played one more year of softball before retiring from a sport I love. I completed my Bachelors in May 1999 in Social Work and Human Services and began to work.

After college graduation, I worked at the Will County Health Department (WCHD) in the Adolescent Health Division as a social worker and program coordinator. While at the WCHD I worked as the program coordinator for Abstinence Education initiative and with Healthy Families Illinois teen parent panel. I also worked along with HIV/AIDS prevention and Teens against Tobacco use. I worked as a domestic violence and child/elderly abuse assessment counselor at Sliver Cross Hospital. I left the WCHD to gain teaching experience in a school setting. I was a teacher assistant at Hickory Creek Middle School in Frankfort while I finished my Masters in Special Education from Lewis University. From there I worked at Peotone High School developing their Behavior Disorder program and was the Head Girls Basketball Coach.  After completing my fourth year at Peotone I decided to make a change and accept a special services position at Lincoln-Way East High School. I spent a year at LWE working with the Special Service Department and I coached Freshman Girls Basketball and Sophomore Softball. I really missed the small town atmosphere, so I left LWE and accepted a position at Manteno High School in the Special Service Department and the JV Girls Basketball position. After a year as JV basketball coach I had the opportunity to become the Head Varsity Coach which I did for two years.

I am now entering my 12th year of teaching in the Special Education department. Currently entering my 7th year at Manteno High School with the Special Service Department and  I am currently team leader for Operation Teen Safe Driving, Interact Club Sponsor, MEA President, and on the Evaluation Committee.

In May 2010 I graduated from Concordia University with a Master in Administration and received my Type 75 school administration certification. Summer of 2014 I completed a 2year graduate program of credits on Next Generation Science Standards from Illinois State University.

My degrees are a Bachelors of Arts, Masters in Special Education and Masters in School Administration.

I love being back in the small town environment and at the school I graduated from. Being an alumni of Manteno High School makes me very proud to be a part of the Panther team again!

My Hobbies Include: Slow-pitch softball, spending time with Family and friends, WNBA/College basketball games, College Football, concerts, reading, musicals and gardening.
